Opal Thurman Bailey Richardson
|Opal Thurman Bailey Richardson, 71, of 6335 Logans Lane, Lynchburg, died Saturday, June 20, 1998 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Ira E. Richardson.
Born March 10, 1927 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late John Thomas Thurman and Carrie Rice Thurman. She was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church, was a retired nurse from Lynchburg General Hospital and employed at Camelot Hall of Lynchburg.
She is survived by one son; Ricky Bailey of Suwanee, GA; one daughter, Karen Bailey of Gretna; one brother, Garnette Thurman of Richmond; three sisters, Virgie Passoa of Richmond, Viola Burnette and Jane Poindexter both of Gladys; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan Bailey and Shuan and Shane Ayers; and a special friend, Dexter Hawkins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 1998 in West Lynchburg Baptist Church by the Rev. Wayne Landrum and the Rev. David Hasker. Burial will follow in the Thurman Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30pm, Tuesday at Finch and Finch Funeral Home, Altavista.
