Laura Ellen Denton Kerr, 75, of 5083 East Ferry Road, Gladys, died Thursday, April 22, 1999 in Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Clarence Earl Kerr Sr.
Born Feb. 14, 1924 in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert Clarence (Rob) Denton and Virginia Ruth Bowman Denton. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Clarence Earl Kerr Jr. and his wife, Donna of Gladys; one daughter, Jacquelyn (Jackie) K. Wright of Lynchburg; one brother, William (Bill) Denton and his wife, Elsie Mae of Gladys; one sister, Jean Overstreet and her husband, Charles of Statesville, N.C.; five granddaughters, Karen Bullard and her husband, John, Kim Troyer, Amy Phillips and her husband, Chris, Angela Sheriff and Shannon Kerr; two grandsons, Brian Webber and Kevin Kerr and one great-granddaughter, Madison Cole Bullard.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Clarence Denton and two sisters, Joyce Evelyn Denton and Barbara Denton.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 1999 in Finch & Finch Chapel by the Rev. Charles Harbin and the Rev. David Heerspink. Burial will follow in Christ Episcopal Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Finch & Finch Funeral Home, Altavista and other times at the residence of her son, 1660 Crows Road, Gladys.
