John David Thurman
|John David Thurman, 76, of 3026 Gladys Road, Gladys, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, in Danville Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Marilyn Shomers Thurman.
Born November 21, 1930, in Gladys, he was a son of the late George W. and Eliza Johnson Thurman.
Mr. Thurman retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service and the U.S. Postal Service with over fifteen years of service.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Randy Thurman and his wife, Mary of Gladys; two daughters, Tammy Thurman of Gladys and Terri Thurman Andrews and her husband, Jimmy, of Bedford; a brother, Carlton Thurman of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Janie Arthur of Hurt; seven grandchildren, Josh Bell, Jesse Bell, Randi Thurman, Cody Thurman, Molly Thurman, Zach Bennett, and Austyn Andrews; and one great- grandchild, Trevor Seamster. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at the Finch & Finch Chapel, Altavista, by the Rev. Shelton Miles III. Interment will follow in the Thurman Family Cemetery with military honors by V.F.W. Post 4165 and D.A.V. Chapter 46. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista.
