Angeline Dawson Thurman

Mrs. John W. Thurman - Mrs. Angeline Dawson Thurman, about 100 years old, died at 7:55 o'clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Susie Scruggs, 1970 Easley Avenue, after a long illness. She was born in Pittsylvania County on May 5, year unknown, the daughter of John and Matilda Vaughan Dawson and was the widow of John William Thurman.

Survivors include five sons, R. E. Thurman of Brookneal, U.B., G. W., A. L., and J. T. Thurman all of Gladys; three daughters, Mrs. Scruggs of Lynchburg, Mrs. Linda Rice of Halifax, and Mrs. J. J. Hall of Gladys; grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and a brother, Elisha Dawson of Pittsylvania County. Funeral Services will be conducted at Mrs. Scruggs' home at 2 pm, Saturday with burial in the family cemetery on RFD 2, Gladys.

Funeral of Mrs. Thurman - Funeral services for Mrs. Angeline D. Thurman were conducted at her home by the Rev. W. E. Lowman. Burial was in the family cemetery. Miss Louise West and Mrs. Dorothy Brooks sang and Miss Annie Crist accompanied them on the accordion.

Pallbearers were C. E. Gillette, J. C. Naddox, O. W. Neighbors, C. T. Bates, M. H. Smith and W. B. Candler.
